Clara Bijl
Clara Bijl is an internationally unknown stand-up comedian and writer. Clara grew up in the French Alps and learned English by listening to rap music before attending college in South Carolina, as one does when coming from France. Upon graduation, she moved to New York City to become a stand-up comedian. She thought her English was serviceable until someone asked her if she was deaf. That’s when she decided to study with a speech therapist. Clara has since performed stand-up comedy without an accent around the world. She has two successful runs at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival under her belt, as well as a comedy album “Internationally Unknown.” She wrote for a Swiss TV show, “Le Petit Silvant Illustré,” (yes they have comedy in Switzerland, so long as its neutral). She’s punched up scripts and even wrote and directed a pilot entitled “The Refugees.” She also has a Youtube show, “My Review of Your Yelp Review.” Clara’s latest screenplay, “For Better or For Worse,” has gotten into 12 festivals thus far. Clara only engages in activities that might inspire funny material: the volunteering, the kids, the marriage, the raising of French cats in America…It’s all for comedy.
